Then follow the directions below based on your software type.

  • Choose the QuickBooks (Web Connect) option and click on the Download button.
  • Confirm the From date and the To date of the data you would like to download.

If anyone knows a way to change things so that Quickbooks for Mac will actually print a four digit date, PLEASE let me know.Wells Fargo is using a technology called Web Connect. If enough people do, maybe, just maybe they will figure it out and fix it. Has anyone else run into this issue? Whether you have or not, this is a major security problem for ANYONE who prints a check using Quickbooks for Mac and you should all call tech support to complain. Tech support indicated that they would "note the issue" which means absolutely nothing is going to change. I even went as far as to change the "Short Date" format within OSX hoping it would carry through to Quickbooks, but I just got a message from Quickbooks that while I had a custom date format, Quickbooks only supported the 01/01/20 format and would be overwriting my custom date format. I called tech support and confirmed there is absolutely no way to print a four digit year on checks. BUT QUICKBOOKS and INTUIT (in at least the Mac version - I don't own any others to check) HASN'T FIGURED THIS OUT YET and they are a financial services company.

This has been pointed out in a number of national newspaper articles (for example: ) and TV news spots as a major issue this year. But someone could hold onto that check for a year and then just ad "21" to the date after the 20 you already have and poof, the check is now dated 2021 and is valid again.

Here is why this is very bad: If you write a check today and date it 1/8/20 and someone does not cash it on time, it eventually becomes a stale dated check and will be invalid. If you abbreviate the year as just 20, someone can then add the last two digits to create any year they want.

Well, I was wrong - it still will only print a two digit year on checks. So, I (wrongly it turned out) assumed that somewhere since 2016, Intuit would have realized this and fixed it in the latest version. For those of you who don't know, this is a major security issue because of the uniqueness of this year (2020). So I had been using Quickbooks 2016 for the Mac, and when the new year started and I went to print my first check I realized that the dates on checks always print with a two digit year.
